CALL FOR PAPERS
The Philosophy of Saul Kripke
Special Issue of the Romanian Journal of Analytic Philosophy
Guest Editor: Mircea Dumitru (University of Bucharest)
Saul Kripke is one of the most original contemporary philosophers. His epoch-making logic and philosophical works changed the face of contemporary analytic philosophy. The Romanian Journal of Analytic Philosophy is editing a special issue with exegetical and critical assessments of Kripke’s achievements. We are looking for papers which explore the following topics of Kripke’s work:
- philosophical logic
- philosophy of language
- epistemology
- theory of truth
- metaphysics
- Wittgenstein and meaning
- history of analytic philosophy
- linguistics
We are also looking for book reviews of the following: Saul A. Kripke, Philosophical Troubles. Collected Papers, Volume 1. Oxford University Press, 2011; G. W. Fitch, Saul Kripke, Acumen, 2004; Christopher Hughes, Kripke: Names, Necessity, and Identity, Oxford University Press, 2004; Arif Ahmed, Saul Kripke, Continuum, 2007.
Manuscripts must be submitted till 15th May, 2012. All submissions will go through the regular double-blind review process and follow the standard norms and processes.

The Romanian Journal of Analytic Philosophy is a peer-review journal which aims to bring together the contributions of analytically oriented philosophers in every field of philosophy: metaphysics, logic, epistemology, philosophy of language, philosophy of mind, ethics, political philosophy, history of philosophy, aesthetics, etc. We use analytic philosophy „in a broad sense”, as it is proposed by the European Society of Analytic Philosophy.

Filosofie şi modernitate
De ce (nu) (mai) suntem moderni?
Conferinţa se va desfăşura la sediul Facultăţii de Filosofie, Universitatea Bucureşti, Splaiul Independenţei nr. 204, Bucureşti, în perioada 29-30 martie 2012
Conferinţa naţională studenţească este un proiect anual, iniţiat şi organizat de Facultatea de Filosofie a Universităţii din Bucureşti, cu scopul de a încuraja activitatea de cercetare în rândul studenţilor şi comunicarea, la nivel naţional, între studenţii interesaţi în această direcţie. Prima ediţie a conferinţei naţionale va fi consacrată explorării teoretice, istorice şi istoriografice a conceptului de modernitate filosofică, înţeles în sens larg.
Pot participa la conferinţa naţională studenţi de la orice facultate din ţară (nivel licenţă şi masterat), interesaţi de filosofie şi dispuşi să scrie lucrări originale de cercetare în orice ramură a filosofiei. Sperăm ca în conferinţa naţională să fie reprezentate cât mai multe dintre domeniile filosofiei: metafizică, epistemologie, filosofia ştiinţei, istoria filosofiei, filosofie morală şi politică, estetică, filosofia artei, istoria ideilor etc. Tema conferinţei este generoasă şi poate fi abordată atât istorico-filosofic, cât şi analitic-conceptual.
Lucrările conferinţei, desfăşurate pe secţiuni paralele, vor consta în prezentări de maximum 20 de minute ale unor lucrări individuale originale, urmate de discuţii. Lucrările propuse spre prezentare în conferinţa naţională vor fi selecţionate de către un comitet de selecţie format din profesori şi cercetători.
Cele mai bune comunicări, traduse de autori în limba engleză, vor fi publicate în Analele Universităţii Bucureşti. Seria filosofie, publicaţie editată de Facultatea de filosofie.
Cei interesaţi să participe sunt invitaţi să trimită un rezumat extins de 800-1000 de cuvinte (inclusiv bibliografie) si un CV pe adresa de email: conferinta_nationala_filosofie@yahoo.com

event will be held on March 22-23, 2012 at the University of Bucharest,
Romania.

The Journal „Societate şi politica” is searching for scholarly articles and book reviews for its Spring 2012 issue, a special issue on:
Arts of thinking and arts of healing in Early Modern Europe:
Philosophy, Medicine and Politics
Invited editors: Dana Jalobeanu, Oana Matei, Laura Georgescu
The medical paradigm was a powerful heuristic tool in early modern thought. It was employed in various disciplines, but was particularly successful in Renaissance and early modern philosophy. The ancient tradition of cultivating and ‘medicining’ the soul went through a number of important transformations during the sixteenth and seventeenth century and influenced in a number of ways the development of early modern philosophy and science. Concomitantly and sometimes developed within the same disciplinary clusters, one can find a sustained preoccupation for the invention or reformation of the art(s) of thinking. This special issue of Societate si politica seeks articles exploring the connections and intersections between these themes. It welcomes research coming from different fields (history of philosophy, history and philosophy of science, history and philosophy of mathematics, history of medicine etc.) and especially encourages cross-disciplinary approaches.
Society and Politics is a scholarly peer-reviewed journal (http://uvvg.ro/socpol/). It welcomes original, high-quality research coming from the disciplines of philosophy, history of political thought, intellectual history, history and philosophy of science, favoring interdisciplinary and cross- disciplinary approaches. Papers no longer than 8.000 words, or book reviews no longer than 800 words should be submitted to: dana.jalobeanu@celfis.ro.
