Am studiat fizică și filosofie la Universitatea Babeş Bolyai, Cluj Napoca și am obținut un doctorat în filosofia științei la Universitatea din București. Apoi, am trecut printr-o serie de specializări post-universitare la Oxford University (Balliol College), New Europe College (Bucureşti), Warburg Istitute (University of London), Princeton University și Max Planck Institute for History of Science, Berlin. Din 2001 sunt director de programe la centrul de cercetare Fundamentele Modernităţii Europene, Universitatea Bucureşti (www.modernthought.unibuc.ro ) şi co-organizator al Bucharest-Princeton seminar in early modern philosophy. Din 2009 sunt membru al Centrului de logica, istoria şi filosofia ştiinţei CELFIS, Facultatea de Filosofie, Universitatea Bucureşti, și organizez seminarul săptămânal al CELFIS (miercuri seara, de la ora 18). Din 2014, sunt director al sectiei umaniste a Institutului de Cercetare al Universitatii din Bucuresti (ICUB).

Seminarul de cercetare al CELFIS

In fiecare miercuri de la ora 18. Seminarul CELFIS este un forum deschis tuturor cercetatorilor si studentilor, un loc al schimbului de idei, in care profesori, cercetatori sau doctoranzi din tara si din strainatate prezinta lucrari sau proiecte de cercetare in lucru. Detalii aici.

Director al grantului From natural history to science: the emergence of early modern philosophy (http://blogs.ub-filosofie.ro/pce/); membru in grantul European ERC Starting Grant The Medicine of the Mind in Early Modern England : towards a reinterpretation of Francis Bacon (desfasurat in colaborare cu Colegiul Noua Europa si Warburg Institute, University of London).

Co-editor al Journal of Early Modern Studies (http://www.zetabooks.com/journal-of-early-modern-studies.html) si editor executiv al revistei Societate si Politica (http://www.uvvg.ro/en/journals2/380-societate-si-politica.html). Co-organizator (din 2001) al Princeton Bucharest Seminar in Early Modern Philosophy si (din 2007) al Bucharest colloquium in Early Modern Philosophy/Science. Co-organizator al Bucharest Graduate Conference.

Servicii in slujba profesiei:

Membru in steering committee al HOPOS (History of Philosophy of Science Society),  secretar general al ISIH (International Society for Intellectual History). Evaluator EURIAS. Membru in comitetele de redactie sau comitetele editoriale consultative ale Perspective on Science si Intellectual History Review. Raportor (peer-review) pentru Journal of the History of Ideas,  HOPOS, Early Science and Medicine etc. A organizat la Bucuresti conferinta internationala a ISIH (in 2011). Organizeaza in fiecare an Bucharest Colloquium in Early Modern Science si Bucharest Graduate Conference.

Alte activitati:

In paralel cu activitatea universitară, Dana Jalobeanu a urmat cursuri de jurnalism BBC şi a activat ca jurnalist în presa scrisă, radio şi TV. A fost redactor şef la Radio Contact Cluj, corespondent BBC, prezentator al emisiunii de ştiinţă « Evrika », la TVR. Intre 2001-2008 a fost science editor la BBC România realizând emisiunea Magazin ştiinţific precum şi o serie de alte emisiuni pe teme de ştiinţă sau istoria ştiinţei. In 2008 a realizat seria de emisiuni BBC : Londra, locul în care s-a născut ştiinţa modernă, în 5 episoade. A publicat articole de popularizare a ştiinţei în Dilema şi Idei în dialog.
