Alexandru Boboc is Professor Emeritus of the Faculty of Philosophy. He obtained his PhD in Philosophy from the University of Bucharest in 1964 and specialized in the history of modern and contemporary philosophy, philosophy of culture and values, semiotics and philosophy of language. Over the course of the past decades, Professor Boboc established his reputation as a specialist in the sphere of Kantian studies, history of philosophy and modern philosophy, with a particular interest in the philosophical thought of authors such as: Descartes, Leibniz, Hegel, Kierkegaard, Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, Dilthey, Husserl, Scheler, N. Hartmann. He has been supervising over 50 doctoral dissertations. In 1998 he was awarded the honorary title of Doctor Honoris Causa by the International Academy of Economic Law and Audiovisual Arts in Chişinău, Moldova. Since 1991 he has been a member of the Romanian Academy.
